If you have been in this industry more than five minutes you already know the bodega cart. That boxy laundry cart or shopping cart photographers have been DIYing for years, usually with a nightstand strapped in to hold the light steady. It works, kind of, but it always looked like exactly what it was, a hack.
Westcott just made the real version. The Photography Wagon is a collapsible all terrain wagon with built in bag compartments and a mount that holds your light stand upright while you roll. It folds flat when you are done and rolls over grass and gravel without a fight. It is priced around $189, which puts it right in reach for working photographers instead of just studios with a whole gear truck.
What can you actually put in it
This is not a Westcott only product. The mount holds any light stand and any light, not just Westcott gear. Run your Godox, your Profoto, your Flashpoint, whatever you already own.
The storage is not just for lighting either. Circular reflectors, full length reflectors, backdrop stands, even a laptop stand if you are tethering or doing client reveals on location, all of it has a spot now instead of riding loose in your trunk or getting left behind because it did not fit in a normal rolling case.
The details that actually matter
A few things worth knowing before you buy. The tailgate at the back collapses down too, so loading and unloading gear is not a reach in over the side.
It is rated to hold 150 pounds, so bring your whole kit. Just do not put your kid or your assistant in it, no matter how tempting that sounds after a long shoot day.
The wagon also has enough weight of its own that once you have a modifier mounted and up, wind is not going to knock the whole thing over the way it can with a lightweight stand alone. That alone makes it worth it for anyone who shoots outdoors regularly.
